Shaun Lymer grew up on Vancouver Island and played Junior hockey in Canada and the U.S. After Juniors he went on to play NCAA Div.III in up state New York at Morrisville State College. Following college he took a couple years off from hockey and then took the opportunity to get back into playing and has been playing professionally overseas in Sweden.
During that time he began working summer camps which is where he met Josh in 2015 and began working with him in the Spring and Summers for the past 5 years from JMB Hockey Development and now onto Hockey House. During this time he has worked with many athletes from Atom to WHL & NCAA. In 2017/2018 he was the Assistant Coach for Burnaby Winter Clubs E15 team in the CSSHL. During the 2018/2019 season while playing in Sweden he was lucky enough to be the Head Development Coach for the youth and junior programs of the club.
“ It wasn’t until working with Josh and coaching at BWC that I realized not only how much I enjoy being involved in the individual skill development that is so big in hockey today, but that I have a knack for it. What I enjoy the most is being able to teach the small technical skills that are not always noticed in the game and then making sure the player understands where these skills can be used in multiple situations. I think as a coach when working with a player, whether they are playing Pee-Wee or Professional, you need to be able to adapt to how the individual learns, skates, moves and shoots. You need to be able to help fix a problem a player may be having or know when to step back and give suggestions and allow the player to work it out on their own.”
