Current Surrey Eagles assistant coach, Matt Dawson grew up in the lower mainland and played minor hockey for the Burnaby Winter Club as well as attending the South Delta Hockey Academy. He then play his junior hockey for the Delta Ice Hawks of the PJHL and Surrey Eagles of the BCHL. Before attending college Matt spend 1 year with the Green Bay Gamblers of the United States Hockey League. Matt earned a scholarship to the University of New Hampshire who plays in Hockey East. He spent 5 years playing NCAA hockey playing in over 100 career games. The former defenseman started working along side his former assistant coach at New Hampshire doing skill development and running Summer hockey camps in the Boston area. Since moving home Matt has worked closely with Mitch and Josh.
